Gordon graduates 500 Saturday morning

Gordon College president Lawrence Weill will address nearly 1,100 graduates and guests during commencement exercises Saturday, May 15, at 8:30 a.m. on Lambdin Green. There are 500 graduates this academic year. Some 170 graduates are expected to march. Students, faculty and special guests will be led in procession by a bagpiper – a long-held tradition at Gordon – while Gordon faculty member John Barnard serves as the Mace bearer. Student Kathryn Alia Claxton will offer the invocation and the benediction will be offered by student Jonathan David Chandler. Both are honor graduates. A reception will be held in the atrium of the student center, adjacent to Lambdin Green, immediately after the ceremony. At 10:30 a.m. the nursing division will hold its annual pinning ceremony in Alumni Memorial Hall. At 11 a.m. the teacher education division will hold its annual Bell & Book ceremony in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
