With recent off-campus news that has cast a large shadow of concern over Gordon College, it is refreshing to come across a group of students who are a combination of parent, friend, mentor and, in some cases, bad cop.”It’s not an easy job. It’s more than just keeping an eye on the residence hall. Students that live here look up to you in a lot of ways,” notes resident assistant and first year Gordon student Moria Howard. Her friend and colleague Chad Walker adds, “The guys on my floor look to me as a big brother. I don’t just remind them of when to escort their guests out or when quiet hours are. I also make sure they’re doing well in classes, are enjoying their Gordon experience and making solid decisions.”Howard is also president of SWAZI step team, a step and dance team that is considerably involved with the surrounding community and neighborhoods.
