The Gordon College Theatre is closing its season with a performance that promises to be different ‘“ really different ‘“ but very exciting.’Fight Night’ is a presentation of scene work that focuses on stage combat. Lamar countians in the cast include: Kit Weber, Katie Janssen, Santo Bowles, Kelby Smith and Marc Muneal’It’s an incredibly good opportunity for our students to experience fight choreography with a true professional,’ said Rhonda Wooley, director and assistant professor of theatre. Kelly Mann, a professional actor/stage combatant, is teaching the fight choreography while Wooley directs the scenes. ’I think it will be a fun night of variety theatre based on stage combat scenes,’ Wooley said.Wooley is performing in a scene from Shakespeare’s comedy ‘Merry Wives of Windsor.’ She is in a scene between Mistress Page and Mistress Ford which also features Laura King, a community actress who has performed is several Gordon productions.Other scenes and actors include:Black Mamba and Cooperhead from the Quentin Tarantino movie ‘Kill Bill.’ The scene features Tara Barfield and Caitlin McDaniel.A Vaudeville routine titled ‘Slowly I Turned,’ featuring Kit Weber and Dillan Smith.A fight scene from ‘Peter Pan’ that is between Captain Hook and Peter featuring Jenna Snidemiller and Katie Janssen.A parody of Shakespeare’s plays and characters with a scene between Juliet and Lady Macbeth performed by Amanda Ventress and Angel Howard.Robin Hood, Little John and the Sheriff’s men, played by Santo Bowles, Logan Fagin, Kelby Smith and Zak Williams.A scene from Les Miserable featuring Travis Shipley as Jean Valjean and Marc Muneal as Javert.Fight Night opens Wednesday, April 9 and continues through Saturday, April 12 with performances each night at 7:30 p.m. A Sunday matinee is April 13 at 2 p.m.All performances are on the stage of the Gordon State College Fine Arts Theatre. Tickets are available at the door and are $7 for adult, $6 for seniors, $5 for non-Gordon student and $4 each for groups of 10 or more.
