Graduation rate is 70%

As evidence of Lamar schools’ success, superintendent Dr. Bill Truby points to a graduation rate of nearly 70%. The Herald-Gazette erroneously reported last week that the dropout rate was 70%. ‘The drop out rate is not even close, ranging from four to eight percent a year,’ Truby said. In addition, the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement has released the results of a spring 2009 Criterion Referenced Competency Test erasure analysis aimed at finding schools that have problems with test tampering.
