Grady Carter succumbs

Grady Carter, who was an institution at the family drug store in downtown Barnesville for generations, has died.Carter was at an appointment with his cardiologist Wednesday when he fell and suffered a brain injury. He was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center where he died Thursday morning. Grady and his brother, Stonie, operated Carter’s Drug Store in Barnesville as did their father before them. Grady and Stonie were awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for business by the Chamber of Commerce when they retired and turned the store over to Stonie’s daughter, Virginia.Survivors include his wife, Jackie and his brother, a daughter and three sons.Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
