Grand jury carries forward serial arson and hit and run cases

The cases against alleged serial arsonist Travis Ball and Thomas Lenhart, who is charged with hit and run and vehicular homicide, were carried forward by the March term grand jury this week – presumably awaiting crime lab results. The next grand jury convenes in June. Lenhart is charged with first degree vehicular homicide, hit and run and failure to maintain lane for striking Thomas Norman Anderson last March on Hwy. 36 West near T.J. Outfitters then leaving the scene. Ball, 46, is out on bond in both Lamar and Upson counties. Lamar deputies arrested him as he fled into Lamar County January 8 after allegedly setting fires at two homes in Upson County. He is formally charged with arson in connection with a fire at the former home of Hodges Poore on Hwy. 41 South here. Ball was granted a $20,000 cash bond here January 16 and later posted that amount. He was transferred to the Upson County jail where he had been housed until posting a $150,000 bond there.
