Grand jury to convene with thick docket

By Walter Geiger The March term Lamar County grand jury will convene March 9 with a vast list of cases to consider. One involves charges brought by the GBI against Cornelius Walker charging him with attempted murder of or threatening witnesses and influencing witnesses. Walker, 28, is no stranger to the Lamar County jail where he has been booked 20 times since 2003 for offenses ranging from burglary and aggravated assault to possession of cocaine – at least 42 charges total. There was no warrant available for inspection in that this is a GBI case. Also on the docket are the charges against Linda Jessica Gunn who is charged with nine counts of first degree cruelty to children for allegedly beating her own infant daughter. Gunn also faces one count of cruelty to animals. Other high profile cases include: Quantavius Simmons, armed robbery and three counts aggravated assault. William Hester, two counts sexual exploitation of children, aggravated child molestation and child molestation. Stephen Douglas Hall, 41 counts sexual exploitation of children, aggravated child molestation and child molestation.
