Greenco agrees to stipulations

With a court-ordered shutdown looming, Greenco Environmental principals Tim and Melia Lesko agreed Friday to a long list of stipulations demanded by Lamar County and will be allowed to continue operations until May 11, 2011. Greenco plans to move to an abandoned rock quarry in Dekalb County if permitting is forthcoming. At a called county commission meeting Nov. 8, the Leskos had rejected the stipulations and a shutdown seemed imminent. After early-morning called meetings two Tuesdays in a row, commissioners called a mid-meeting closed session with county attorney Scott Mayfield, landfill manager Johnny Poore and zoning administrator Danny Gunter.
