A host of dignitaries, firefighters and citizens were on hand this morning for groundbreaking ceremonies at the site of the new Lamar County Fire Station #1 on Roberta Drive. Workers began moving dirt at the site as soon as the ceremony was over. Fire chief Steve Andrews thanked all those present for their efforts and expressed his appreciation to those firefighters who worked so hard to get the department certified some 30 years ago.
