GSC armed robbery suspect denied bond

By Walter Geiger One of two men involved in an armed robbery that marred the first week of fall semester at Gordon State College was denied bond at a hearing in Lamar superior court Oct. 6. Dequane Rayshun Williams, 20, was armed with a handgun at the time of the robbery that occurred at 11:30 p.m. on August 11. Williams and a codefendant, Keondre Deshon Strother, 20, allegedly robbed a GSC student who was sitting on a wall near The Village housing complex on campus of a small amount of cash at gunpoint. The pair fled in a vehicle but were stopped soon thereafter by Barnesville police. Strother was granted bond earlier. Williams was denied bond because he was the alleged triggerman. Both suspects are from Sparta, Ga.
