GSC foundation welcomes two; Founders Day revived

The Gordon State College Foundation welcomed two new members at its meeting on campus Nov. 6. They are Sen. Burt Jones of Butts County and Kike Seda of Columbus. The foundation heard a financial report indicating its invested corpus has grown to over $8.6 million. Funds are used for scholarships and to underwrite campus projects, including the new student activity center for which ground will be broken in early 2014. The Foundation also heard the college plans to bring back Founders Day, a tradition dating back to the early 1900s. The Return, a popular Beatles tribute band, will perform at a Foundation fundraiser on Lambdin Green March 29, 2014 in conjunction with Founders Day. Tickets are $100. The event will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. For more information, contact Rhonda Toon at rhondat@gordonstate.edu
