Law enforcement officials are searching for a Chrysler Sebring, possibly blue in color, thought to have been involved in a bank robbery in Spalding County this morning.A gun battle erupted during the robbery and the driver/robber may have suffered a gunshot wound. Reports indicate two shots were fired at one of the robbers who may have been wearing body armor.The bank was the FNB branch near Roses in Griffin, across from the Griffin airport.The initial lookout is for two black males in a dark blue or black Sebring or Stratus. They were last seen near the Pike-Spalding county line and the search was concentrated for a time in the Carver Rd. area. It involved at least one helicopter and numerous ground units.According to a press release from the Griffin Police Department, the masked robber entered the bank just after 10 a.m. and ordered employees to fill a bag with money. He pointed a handgun at a employee and a gun battle ensued. No one in the bank was hurt.The suspect is described as a six foot tall black male, weighing 200-250 pounds. He wore black and red gloves, black pants, a black hooded jacket and a black ski mask. The bank expects to open for business Friday.
