Guye English

Guye English September 25, 1937 ‘“ May 1, 2018 Donald Guye English was born September 25, 1937 in Lamar County. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard ‘Smokey’ and Lurene Kinard English; his siblings, Rachael English, Charles English, RL English, Leonard English, LaRue Stephen. At the time of his death, Mr. English had one living sibling, Josephine Sims and the two were very close. Mr. English is survived by the love of his life and wife of nearly 60 years, Ann English; two children, Dwayne English and Angela Ledford (Matt); seven grandchildren, Beth English (fiancé Matt Browning), Rachael Carr (Richard), Brad English (Jessica), Dillon Taylor (Kaitlyn), Guy English, Matthew Ledford, and Missi English; three great grandchildren and one on the way, Matty Carr, Scotty Carr, Gage English, and soon to be known, Daxton Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. English was a life-long member of Rock Springs Congregational Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he became a marksman; a member of the Moose Lodge in Barnesville, a Past Master of Pinta Lodge 88; a member of the VFW Club in Barnesville, and was retired from Ford Motor Company. Mr. English loved life, loved his family, and loved fishing. At his advanced age and declining health, fishing took a backseat to other loves like his great grandbabies, Matty and Scotty. His face would light up the room whenever they came to visit, and much to the rest of the family’s dismay, he fed them chocolate by the handfuls during those precious visits. Mr. English will be missed by many as he was a staple in Lamar County, Ga. for all his life. A visitation will be on Thursday, May 3 from 2:30-4 p.m. at Rock Spring Church in Milner, Ga. Following the visitation a celebration of his life will be in the sanctuary. Dr. Benny Tate will officiate. He will be laid to rest close to his parents in the church cemetery.
