Ashlyn Lonberg of Barnesville placed Fifth All Around at the AAU National Gymnastics Championships on July 1. The meet was held at Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Center in Orlando, Fla. Lonberg’s scores were vault-9.525 (fifth), uneven bars. 8.7 (eighth), balance beam, 9.425 (fourth) and floor exercise, 9.55 (third). Her All Around score was 37.2. Lonberg competed as a Level 2 gymnast in the young 7-year-old category. Her teammates from Legion of All-Stars in Griffin also did very well leaving their mark in AAU Gymnastics. Two gymnasts, Kaylan Andrews of Pike County and Maiya Harding of Spalding, were national champions in their level/age group.
