Trick-or-treating along the streets of Barnesville’s Thomaston Street corridor is a time-honored tradition and is the climax of a series of events leading up to the promenade of ghosts and goblins.
Barnesville will celebrate Halloween on Tuesday, Oct. 31 and Thomaston Street and other thoroughfares will be blocked off beginning at 5 p.m.
Lamar Arts kicks things off this week with the Painted Pumpkin Promenade Oct. 19-21 at the Depot Gallery. Participants can pick a pumpkin, paint it and either take it home or leave it on display at the gallery. The cost is $12 per pumpkin and includes the necessary art supplies.

Halloween Friendly Pageant, 10 a.m. at the event center located at 108 Main Street in Barnesville. $55 entry fee; $10 photo fee. Costume contest. Info: 770.584.4201.

Lamar NAAACP Freedom Fund Variety Show, a local talent showcase featuring social media comedian Mattie J.; LC Fine Arts Center, 5-7 p.m. Tickets are $40 and available from any NAACP member.
Trunk or Treat, presented by the Milner civic committee, 5-7 p.m. at Milner city park. Candy donations are encouraged and can be dropped off at Milner city hall. Contact mayor Kathy Buffington at 770.468.8893 to reserve a spot.
Oct. 29:
All Howls Eve Harvest Fest to benefit Dolly Goodpuppy Society; noon-6 p.m. at Summers Field Park. Dog costume contest and dog walk parade. Food trucks, vendors, kids’ events, cakewalk, photo booth, hot dog bobbing, raffle. Info: 678.640.4351.
