Hand grenade found in vehicle

A hand grenade left in a vehicle at the service center at Cronic Chrysler Jeep temporarily closed the dealership Thursday afternoon to ensure the safety of customers and personnel. It is back to business as usual today. The vehicle had been left at the dealership for servicing. Technicians doing the service found what appeared to be a grenade under the seat. To ensure safety, sheriff’s deputies evacuated the dealership. Sheriff Wendell Beam and his staff located the vehicle’s owner who advised he had owned the grenade for about 30 years and kept it in his car. The owner advised deputies he thought the grendade was a training device but was not sure. GBI bomb technicians and personnel from the Department of Homeland Security arrived late Thursday evening. The investigation is ongoing. Employees at the dealership were able to go home in various used cars provided by Cronic. - WKEU
