Barnesville police officer Rex Johnson found this hawk hanging from a tree near his home by a hunting lanyard December 14. The bird had not been dead long, Johnson said. The bird also had leggings. The lanyard was green with an O ring at the end. Jim Ozier of DNR said the bird appears to be a juvenile red-tailed hawk used for falconry. Johnson lives on Crawford Road near its intersection with Howard Road. If you think this may be your bird or have information regarding it, contact him at 770.468.1542.
