HBO work done; Wind Gap back to Barnesville

HBO completed local film work on its series ‘Sharp Objects’ over the weekend and a large portion of the crew left town. The crew camp in the Gordon parking lot off College Drive has been dismantled. A skeleton crew of location personnel remain here converting Wind Gap, Missouri back to Barnesville. The downtown murals, which were purposely aged for the camera, are being restored. The one on the Stafford Block building on Market Street will retain the Wind Gap name and serve as a selfie spot for visitors. The Wind Gap signage on the caboose downtown will be removed. Crew members are also converting signage at local businesses back to their Barnesville names. Location personnel have been thrilled with Barnesville and the word is already out in the film community about how welcoming the town has been. Those who have seen cuts also have been very impressed with the series, local visuals and expect ‘˜Sharp Objects’ will be renewed which means crews will return to film year two at some point, bringing their vast positive economic impact with them. A small crew is working in St. Louis this week, shooting base footage there but Barnesville will always remain the birthplace of Wind Gap.
