Former high school and military track star Willie Hamm, now an inspirational leader for the LC sports programs, got off his motorized scooter at the Middle Georga Relays track meet Wednesday at Trojan Field and walked 200 meters. He had been training to cover the distance he once specialized in for 10 years. With a throng of coaches, athletes and supporters cheering him on and a news crew from 11Alive filming, Hamm knelt, kissed the finish line and prayed when he completed his Herculean task.
