Painters were busy inside the new, $1.5 million health department building here last week and it should open to the public within the next 60 days. The much-needed new facility is located at the corner of Redbud and Academy drives in Barnesville adjacent to the current facility on the old Barnesville Academy campus.’The plan is to be finished the end of June and move in early July. We’re excited,’ reported Sherry Farr, nurse manager.County commission chairman Charles Glass is equally pleased. ‘Our builder says we are on schedule for completion by the end of June,’ he added. The old, outdated, leaky space now occupied by the department will most likely be used for storage.’We don’t have any specific plans for the old space. Our CDBG grant application noted it was in bad shape and probably not suitable for many uses,’ Glass concluded.
