Heating assistance available to low income families

Phone lines will be open from 8:30 am to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, and Wednesday, Jan. 28, to take phone calls to set appointments for heating assistance from the Middle Georgia Community Action Agency. There will be phone-only appointments for eligible households in Lamar County. ’Once all appointments have been set for the allocated funding, we’ll begin a waiting list,’ said case manager Gwen Moore. ‘We will take no phone calls or add anyone to the waiting list after Jan. 28. Applicants must speak by phone with the intake person to set their appointments. We cannot take walk-ins. They will need to have pen and paper available to take notes on what is needed for the appointment.’ Eligible households need to call 770-358-6419 to schedule an appointment between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on these two days only. Households must have an annual income at or below 60% of the state median income level which amounts to $21,180 for a one-person household; $27,697 for two people, $34,212 for three,$40,731 for four, $47,248 for five, $53,765 for six-person, $54,987 for seven and $56,209 for eight.
