The biggest ongoing need in the tornado relief effort here is for heavy equipment.According to IDA executive director Missy Kendrick who is helping coordinating relief, bobcat-style skid steer loaders, front-end loaders, bulldozers and timber skidders or other equipment with grappling hooks are in short supply.”We need equipment to collect debris and move it to the side of the road for pickup,” Kendrick said.Anyone with such equipment that is available is asked to call the chamber office at 770.358.5884 immediately.There is also considerable need for appliances like stoves, microwaves, refrigerators, washers and dryers, Kendrick added.FEMA AID:Citizens impacted by the tornado are encouraged to apply for storm relief funds from FEMA. Assistance is completing these forms is available at the Barnesville-Lamar County Library, the Health Department and at the Board of Education office. The preliminary application must be made online and computers are available at these locations and staffer will assist victims in filling out the forms.It is critical that you bring the following information with you when applying:’¢ Your social security number and those of all family members in the household.’¢ A statement of your gross income.’¢ Your checking account number and your bank routing number. These can be obtained from a blank check.UPDATE: The West Central Georgia Workforce Development resource trailer will be at several locations on Friday to help disaster victims register with FEMA on Friday, May 6th. The trailers are equipped with computers and staff to help with registration. They have also provided additional computers to the library for registration purposes as well. The times and locations are as follows:9:30 am – 11:30 am- Grove St.12:30 pm – 2:30 pm- Corner of Hwy 18 and Cannafax Rd.3:00 pm – 5:00 pm- 367 Crawford Rd. (at the intersection of Crawford Rd. and Howard Rd.)
