Help the Trojans; eat some BBQ

The National Athletic Equipment Reconditioning Association that oversees the refurbishing of old football helmets will no longer accept helmets more than 10 years old. Usually, helmets at the end of the season are sent to be reconditioned where they are then restored to playing condition. The new ruling will allow helmets to keep pace with new research, design and safety measures. Safety of the athletes playing is priority. To meet the new regulations for helmets, the Trojan football program will be purchasing 100 new helmets this year to replace outdated helmets. To offset these costs, the Gridiron Club will sponsor a fundraiser. The club will sell tickets for pulled pork. The cost is $8 for a pound of pulled pork that has been lightly tossed in sauce. Tickets can be purchased from any middle or high school football player as well as from the Trojan Learning Center, State Farm Insurance and Slice’s Pizza. The pork will be available for pick up on Saturday, April 14 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the visitor’s concession stand at the Trojan stadium. Tickets can be purchased until April 9. The Gridiron Club is looking to sell 2,000 pounds of pork. Any questions can be addressed to club president Steve Selsor by phone 678-372-7632
