Several high profile cases are on the superior court docket to be heard Wednesday at 9 a.m. with Judge Tommy Wilson on the bench.A local woman charged with bashing her three month old daughter against a headboard when she would not go to sleep back in March, 2014 is on the calendar. At issue is a pretrial conference to review the clinical psychological evaluation ordered by the court for Linda Jessica Gunn.Gunn faces five counts of first degree cruelty to children along with charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery among others. She also has a cruelty to animals case on the docket.Also scheduled is a hearing on a motion to void or vacate the life sentence given Shameik Spinks who was among three men charged with the December 2010 shooting death of Gordon student Danavan Bussey. Spinks is doing life at Autry State Prison. Codefendant Lakievius Elerby is doing life at Smith State Prison. The third man charged in the case, Bryce Arsenio Smith, pleaded guilty to robbery and testified against Elerby and Spinks. He was released on parole Dec. 22, 2014.Spinks is apparently representing himself in the motion proceeding.Another alleged killer is also on the docket. Joshua James Cox is seeking his release from the local jail on bond. He is charged with felony murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in connection with the shooting death of Donald Terrell Clark here July 14. Cox has testified he and Clark were using drugs, including LSD, when the shooting occurred.Clark was shot dead in the driveway of his home at 939 Chappell Mill Rd.There are also indications there will be a plea and sentencing in one of two local vehicular homicide cases that have long languished in the local legal system. Vivian Massey is expected in court and reports are she will enter a plea. She is charged with two counts second degree vehicular homicide after allegedly running a stop sign at the intersection of Johnstonville and Crawford roads June 1, 2013. The resultant crash killed Pearl and John Kemp of Barnesville.
