High speed chase ends in downtown B’ville

A high speed chase that originated in Upson County ended in a spectacular crash in downtown Barnesville early Sunday morning. At some point, stop sticks were used in an attempt to slow the speeding car. They flattened tires but the driver sped on. Witnesses said the fleeing car went through the intersection at Flash Foods in excess of 100 mph on just three wheels. The driver later jumped a curb downtown and took out a tree in front of DB’s Pizzeria. At that point, the whole undercarriage was ripped from the car and it finally came to a halt. The driver fled on foot but was later captured. For full coverage, see the 4.19.16 print edition of The Herald Gazette.
