Higher standards mean fewer students at Gordon

Classes began Monday at Gordon State College and enrollment has dropped off considerably. With phase two of tighter enrollment standards being implemented, Gordon’s fall enrollment is expected to be about 4,000, down from 4664 in 2011 and 5009 in 2010. About 900 are expected to live in on-campus housing where capacity is 1,034. Guillebeau Hall will not be used for student housing for the second straight year. The 2012 enrollment figure will fluctuate over the next few weeks and is not official.
