The Gordon College Highlanders won their best of three semi-final series with South Georgia College two games to one in Douglas over the weekend to advance to the championship round of the GJCAA.The Highlanders easily beat South Georgia 14-4 in game one of the series Saturday but the TIgers bounced back to tie the series with a 7-6 win in the nightcap to tie the series at one game each.Gordon won the third and deciding game Sunday 5-4 in extra innings on a tenth inning homer by Chase Raffield to advance to this weekend’s championship series in Cochran. The Highlanders, seeded third in the tournament at 36-20, will take on top seeded Middle Georgia (32-18) in the best of three series for the Region XVII championship. The Warriors swept Gordon three games in Cochran during the regular season. The winner of the Georgia title will host the NJCAA district tournament next weekend with the ultimate goal of reaching the junior college World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado at the end of the month.
