The historic Antioch Baptist on Yatesville Road, pastored by Dr. Jeffery Morgan, was heavily damaged Wednesday by fire. (interview video after jump) The fire was still not under control at 4 p.m. as church members, firefighters from multiple jurisdictions and volunteers worked to pull furnishings from the main sanctuary, nearly 200 years old, which was gutted. The new section of the church, just across the Lamar County line in Upson County, is thus far not heavily damaged. More to follow.
