Historic building soon to get new life

The long-neglected Murphey Building downtown will soon be transformed into a residential/commercial hub with two business slots and 11-12 apartments. Zach Westerfield of Southern Venture Partners (SVP), which bought the building late last year, said renovation work will begin this summer with completion in the spring of 2025.

Westerfield is also considering a microbrewery for the site. SVP recently completed the renovation of the historic Collier Building downtown.
