Former local Southern Christian Leadership Conference president Claude Holloway was granted a $35,000 property bond following an emotional hearing before Judge Bill Fears October 8.Holloway, 57, of 231 Holloway Rd. is charged with two counts aggravated assault, two counts of reckless conduct and second degree criminal damage to property after allegedly attacking several relatives with a tractor and pickup truck October 1.Claude Holloway explained he rammed a Buick carrying James Holloway, Julia Worthy and James Butler because he thought James Holloway was going for a weapon.Judge Fears agreed to set the property bond but instructed sheriff Larry Waller to remove the tractor and all firearms from Claude Holloway’s property prior to his being released. He also ordered Claude Holloway to stay on the medication he takes for what assistant district attorney Scott Johnston described as ‘mental health issues’.
