Sheriff Larry Waller has announced that sheriff-elect Brad White has appointed Captain Leslie Holmes, currently commander of the patrol division, to major and chief deputy sheriff.Major Holmes began her service to Lamar County in 1998 in the Detention Center. She held the position of jailer, booking sergeant and later she was moved to patrol sergeant and shift supervisor. She was promoted to lieutenant- patrol fivision and later she was promoted to captain and served as commander of the patrol division. Holmes is a United States Army veteran and is an exemplary employee. “She is a leader, a mentor and an example of what a peace officer should be. We have a great sheriff’s team and, with Major Holmes as chief deputy, we look forward to serving Lamar County”.
