It’s homecoming week at Lamar County High School and activities, including a critical football game Friday night to cap the week, abound. The homecoming battle kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at Trojan Field.At 7 p.m. the Silver Wings, the U.S. Army parachute team from Ft. Benning, will jump into the stadium and deliver the game ball to Trojan head coach Jason Strickland as they did last year.The homecoming parade will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at Summers Field and utilize the Buggy Days parade route. After the parade, there will be a bonfire and block party from 7-10 p.m. in the LCCHS student parking lot featuring food, games, dancing and a pep rally.On Friday the annual powder puff game will be held. Tickets for high and middle schoolers are $2. LCPS and LCES students get in free.Friday’s night’s game is a huge one. The Trojans need a win over the Southwest Patriots to keep alive their hopes of hosting a playoff game. Lamar and Southwest are tied with Putnam County atop the Region 4AA standings.
