Hope Tree to distribute 200 free Thanksgiving meals

Hope Tree Ministries director Jimmy Fambro and Barnesville First Baptist Church are teaming up to offer local residents “really good” meals on Thanksgiving day.

The meals will be free but must be take-out only and just 200 will be given, Fambro said. Distribution starts at 12 noon Nov. 25. Those needing meals may drive up or walk in at the church.

Hope Tree is also involved in helping a number of families with children with toys and clothing for Christmas. Those wishing to donate to the Christmas fund are encouraged to call 678-972-2457 or come by the Hope Tree Food Bank at College and Carleeta Streets.

Fambro reported that the recent yard sale to benefit Hope Tree netted about $1,000, and donations are still coming in. Donors also can deposit money at Giant Mart in the Hope Tree account to allow people in need to use the funds to buy groceries.

“We just want to thank everyone who helped with the yard sale, and the many people who continue to be loyal supporters of the ministries we do in the community,” Fambro added.
