Human trafficking, narcotics ring bust nets local man

A 26-year-old Barnesville man was arrested after the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) took down a human trafficking organization based in the Newnan area. ******************** NOTICE: This story and photo(s) are under copyright. During the two-day operation, a victim of human trafficking was rescued. A 21-year-old female was found suffering a gunshot wound to her leg and had been refused treatment for her injuries by her alleged pimp. The woman was transported to a hospital to receive treatment and offered assistance through the victims’ advocate office of the DHS human trafficking and child exploitation unit. Some two dozen arrests were made. Through the use of social media, analysts were able to identify over 200 advertisements for prostitution. The sting operation was conducted at a Newnan area hotel.
