A Lamar County man was killed Jan. 27 when the SUV in which he was a passenger collided with a tractor-trailer on I-75. Richard B. Thrasher Jr., 62, of High Falls Road was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash which occurred near the 212 marker on the southbound side of the interstate. That location is near the Tanger Outlet mall. The initial report indicates the driver of the SUV, a 15-year-old female, made an improper lane change and her vehicle was struck by the big rig which overturned, crushing Thrasher. The driver was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Piedmont-Henry Hospital and released. The truck driver was not hurt. The accident remains under investigation.
