IDA intrigue

One of the most intriguing agenda items for tonight’s (January 13) Lamar County commission meeting is the appointments to the Industrial Development Authority. Current commission appointees at the end of their terms are Gene Hardwick and Bruce Akins. ; Hardwick is no longer a commissioner and surely will be replaced. Akins may be out, too. Reports are that commissioner George Brown wants to appoint Tom Rauch and Aaron Brown to the IDA but that slate did not pass muster with a majority of the commissioners. Now it appears the compromise appointees will be county administrator Wayne Patterson and Cheryl Idol. But, this drama may not be over and the vote is still very much up in the air. ;
