Illumination Celebration set for Nov. 23

Along with the traditional activities at the Illumination Celebration, this year’s event will also feature a gingerbread house decorating contest to go along with the theme of ‘A Gingerbread Christmas’. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around town. Members of the Azalea Garden Club will deck the town with boughs of holly and red bows this week. City crews have been stringing tiny, white lights in the trees flanking downtown. On Wednesday, Nov. 23, the Christmas celebration begins at 6:30 p.m. with the Community Church Service at the First United Methodist Church. Immediately afterward the chamber of commerce will host the annual Illumination Celebration at 7:30 p.m. in downtown Barnesville. The deadline to register for the gingerbread decorating contest is Friday at the chamber of commerce. Entries should be taken to American Pie on Wednesday with judging at 7 p.m. and the winners announced during the Illumination Celebration.
