Illumination ceremony ushers in holiday season

The 2012 Illumination Celebration continues the tradition of bringing the community together to light up for the holidays on Wednesday, Nov. 21,Thanksgiving Eve. The night will begin with the community church service held at Barnesville First United Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m. Following the service, the chamber will host the annual Illumination Celebration at 7:30 p.m. In addition to lighting the downtown decorations, festivities will include Christmas carols and Mrs. Claus reading Christmas stories. Santa Cow from Chick-Fil-A will be on hand. Santa himself will also arrive at the Lamar Arts Depot then can be found inside Main Street Advisors for souvenir photos from Reflections Photography. This year’s theme is ‘A Candy Christmas.’ Houses from the Gingerbread House contest and windows from the window decorating contest will be judged. Many town merchants will be open and specialty vendors will offer holiday treats. For more information call the chamber at 770-358-5884.
