Information sought on Franklin Dorminy

The Herald Gazette is seeking information on former state prison inmate Franklin D. Dorminy with regard to information received that he may have been involved in an as yet unsolved homicide in the area during the 1980s. Of specific interest is information as to whether or not Dorminy lived here or visited here often during that time. Dorminy, who had known aliases including Franklin D. Dominy, Franklin Dee Dorminy and/ or Dee Dorminy, committed suicide at Arrendale State Prison on April 9, 1990. Dorminy, a white male, was born on June 7, 1970 in Florida and had blue eyes and brown hair. He was five feet, two inches tall and weighed 115 pounds. Dorminy’s prison records are incomplete but he was apparently serving a life sentence after pleading guilty in Bibb County to kidnapping and two counts of aggravated sodomy. He was arrested in Wilkinson County in 1987 and 1989 on multiple counts of theft by taking. Dorminy’s Bibb County arrests and convictions followed but prison records date those in June 1990, two months after his date of death which was confirmed by the Georgia Department of Corrections.
