Candidates Chris Hightower and Ronald Horton will square off next Tuesday in a special election to fill the unexpired term of former Barnesville city council member Annie Mae Harris who resigned last summer. The polling place, located at the Barnesville Civic Center, will be open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. election day. Elections superintendent Anita Reid reported Monday the race has drawn little interest thus far. Of the 643 active registered voters in Ward 2, only five have cast advance ballots and none have requested absentee ballots. Neither candidate has voted yet, Reid added.
