It’s homecoming week at LCCHS

Fort Benning’s command exhibition parachute team the Silver Wings will return to Trojan Stadium Friday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. to deliver the Homecoming game ball to Trojan head football coach Franklin Stephens. ’We’˜re always excited about coming to perform for the fans at Lamar County,’ said Air Force Technical Staff Sergeant Hollis Collins, the assistant team leader for the Silver Wings. ‘LTC (Ret.) Todd Shipp has been instrumental in getting us here over the past three years. We’re very appreciative of his efforts and especially his service to our country and the United States Army. The Silver Wings keep an extremely busy schedule traveling all over the U.S., often doing three to four demonstrations a week. However, when Col. Shipp calls we always try to accommodate his requests.’ The Silver Wings are highly exclusive, always in demand and part of Fort Benning, home of the infantry, airborne, ranger, special forces, armor and the maneuver center of excellence. It’s Homecoming 2012 as the Lamar County Trojans take on the Northeast Raiders. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Trojan Stadium. The schools are getting fired up with the theme for this year’s homecoming being Heroes vs. Villains. Students are expressing their Trojan spirit each day by dressing like two or more friends on Sidekick Day Tuesday and the elderly on Senior Citizen Day Wednesday. Thursday is Superhero Day and Friday is Spirit Day. The parade will be Thursday, Oct. 4 at 5:30 p.m. Line-up will start at 4 p.m. around Summers Field. The line-up will be as follows: Police cars, JROTC, Trojan Band, cheerleaders, football players, homecoming representatives, class floats, school clubs, organizations and other athletes, community participants and fire trucks. Anyone in the community can be in the parade. The first two vehicles are free and it will be $10 for each additional vehicle. Call Sheila Walker or Jodi Kidd at 770-358-8641 at the high school to sign up. The Block Party and Bonfire will be held Thursday, Oct. 4 from 7-9:30 p.m. in the high school student parking lot. Admission will be $2 at the gate. Friday will begin with a Powder Puff game and a Pep Rally before the homecoming game versus Northeast Macon at 7:30 p.m. with the crowning of the Homecoming King right before the game and the Queen being crowned at halftime. Homecoming Court 2012 consists of senior representatives Christine Hammond, McKay Hickman, Taylor Johnson, Issis Davenport-Turner and Jasmine Wilkie. The junior representative is Laila Suwannakood, the sophomore representative is Hayley Turner and the freshman representative is Katie Jo Daniel.
