Trojan head football coach Dr. Franklin Stephens has been offered and accepted the head coaching position at Ware County High School in Waycross. An interim head coach for LCCHS, which is losing its superintendent and principal in addition to the coach, has been named. Coach Stephens met with his players Thursday morning to tell them of the move. Offensive coordinator Sonny Spurlock has been named interim head coach and will be a strong contender for the job once the search begins. The question is, with superintendent Dr. Bill Truby and principal Derick Austin on the way out the door, who will run the search? UPDATE: There are reports that Griffin head coach Steve Devoursney is interested in the Lamar job. The Bears won a state title last season.
