A Jackson teenager was captured after a brief manhunt Tuesday night and charged with murder after allegedly beating his grandmother to death with a baseball bat for not letting him use her car to go buy cigarettes.The Atlanta Journal-ConstitutionA Butts County teenager was arrested late Tuesday and charged in the beating death of his grandmother, allegedly for not taking him to the store to buy cigarettes.JeNorman Bland, 18, is facing several charges, including murder, according to AM750 and 95.5FM News/Talk WSB.The station reported that Bland’s grandmother was found dead inside her home near Jackson around 7 p.m. Tuesday.’She was struck multiple times with a baseball bat,’ Butts County Sheriff Gary Long told the station.Long said Bland told investigators he went to his grandmother’s house asking for a ride to the store, but she was getting ready to go to work. Bland went outside, grabbed a bat, then came back in and began chasing and hitting his grandmother, according to Long.He said Bland stole his grandmother’s car after the beating, but was later arrested by Griffin police.’He confessed to the murder,’ Long said.Bland is charged with murder, false imprisonment, kidnapping and armed robbery.
