Jan Jones Marsh, 59, died Sunday, March 8. A native of Macon, she graduated from Stratford Academy where she was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for basketball. She graduated from the University of Georgia where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was the Sigma Alpha Epsilon sweetheart.She was an ASID certified interior designer and owner of J. Marsh Designs of Atlanta, Atmore, AL and Barnesville, GA.Always active in her church and community, Jan worked at the Barnesville-Lamar County Chamber of Commerce. She was the director of children’s ministries at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville where she founded the intercessory prayer ministry. She was active in youth and children’s ministries, a member of the New Covenant Sunday School class and the first female chairman of the administrative council.She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Jones.Survivors are her husband, Shepherd Marsh of Pike County; a daughter, Laura W. Marsh of Washington, D.C.; a son, Roberston E. Marsh and his wife Jennifer of Atlanta; one grandson, Jones Marsh; her mother, Nell Jones of Macon; a brother, Albert E. Jones III and his wife Jenny of Maidenhead, England; two sisters, Judy Pamer and her husband Paul of Houston, TX and Helen Robin and her husband Ty of Birmingham, AL.Tentative plans are for a memorial service to be held Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville at 2 p.m. with visitation prior to the service at 1 p.m. at the church.Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 375 Thomaston Street, Barnesville, GA 30204 or the Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy, 4301 West Markham Street, #816, Little Rock, AR, 72205-9985.Hart’s Mortuary of Macon has charge of arrangements.
