The Griffin Area Concert Association continues its concert season with a special Valentine’s performance by the renowned Peachtree Jazz Edition on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Griffin Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.Tickets are $20 with a special rate of $15 for groups of 10 or more. All minor children are admitted free when accompanied by a paid adult.The Peachtree Jazz Edition is an 18 member big band featuring outstanding female vocalist Ms. Toni Byrd. PJE plays an extensive repertoire of Big Band music from the ’30s & ’40s, as well as pop- jazz tunes composed and arranged well into the ’90s with that classic easy listening and swing dance style. Original compositions by Mr. Bill Greenhaw, one of PJE’s trombonists, and a large repertoire of Latin tunes are audience favorites. Peachtree Jazz Edition’s large repertoire includes many original arrangements made famous by the masters like Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Duke Ellington, Glen Miller, Natalie Cole, Melissa Manchester and Willie Nelson. Comprised of talented musicians from the Atlanta area along with talented vocalist Toni Byrd, Peachtree Jazz Edition is renowned as one of the premier big bands in the southeast.The Griffin Area Concert Association has been bringing internationally acclaimed performers in a wide variety of genres to the Griffin area for 58 years.
