Jean McFadden Lykens, age 92, of Griffin, formerly of Barnesville, passed away on June 6, 2012 at Brightmoor Assisted Living in Griffin where she had lived for the last seven years.She was born May 9, 1920’ª and raised in West Middletown, Penn., the daughter of the late Charles Ritchie McFadden and Aura Lee Morris McFadden. Jean moved to Barnesville in 1979 and worked as a real estate agent for the former Searcy-Murray Company. As an accomplished artist, she taught watercolor painting for Gordon College community services for many years and was active in the Lamar Arts Association. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, George B. Lykens Jr. and brothers, Charles M. McFadden, Irwin C. McFadden and John S. McFadden.’¬She is survived by her children and their spouses, Patricia and Frank Hankins of Meansville, Thomas Lykens and Gael Storck of Kansas City, Mo., and Dr. Robert and Barbara Lykens of Waycross, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Katherine Hankins of Atlanta, Charlotte Hankins Weber of Barnesville, Rachel Kim of Plano, Texas, April Schwimmer of New York City, Elizabeth Lykens of Mobile, Ala., Sarah Lykens of Englewood, Col., and Andy Lykens of St. Petersburg, Fla.; as well as six great-grandchildren and many, many friends.A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at the Barnesville Depot on July 14 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Brightmoor Assisted Living Serenity Garden.Moody Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
