Jerome Garrison

Jerome Garrison of Marietta, Georgia, formerly Atlanta, Georgia and Founder & President of Jerome Garrison Interior Designs, went home to be with his beloved Lord and Savior on Monday, April 18, 2016 following complications from heart surgery at Piedmont Hospital. He is survived by his devoted sister, JoBeth Garrison Berrier of Dacula, GA; brother & sister-in-law, Earl and Harriett Garrison of Wilmington Island, GA; sister-in-law, Ethel Garrison of Barnesville, GA; his two rescued canine companions, Rufus and Fibber; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of many devoted friends in the Atlanta area. Jerome was predeceased by his beloved parents, Edna Earl Rainey Garrison and Joseph Cecil Garrison; two brothers, Guerry and Randy Garrison all of Barnesville, GA. Jerome was born on May 12, 1935, in Barnesville, Georgia. He was a graduate of Gordon Military High School in Barnesville and served in the United States Army and National Guard. Jerome attended Mercer University in Atlanta and worked for Davidson’s (Macy) and Lord & Taylor before beginning his renowned interior design career in Atlanta. Jerome founded Jerome Garrison Interior Designs in 1980 on Maple Drive in Atlanta. He had the honor of decorating many of the most beautiful homes in Atlanta. Jerome was Decorator Emeritus of the Atlanta Symphony’s Decorator Show House, and for many years he assisted with ‘The Festival of Trees’ for Children’s Hospital of Atlanta. He often decorated at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center during the Christmas season. Jerome also served as a Board Member for the historic Brumby Hall & Gardens in Marietta. Jerome was featured in local print media such as Atlanta Magazine, Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, and the Atlanta Journal and Constitution. He truly loved decorating homes and bringing colors in fabrics, accessories, and beautiful furniture together to create an environment of joy and pleasure for his many clients over the years. Pleasing others was the focus of Jerome’s life. His style and sense of seeing beyond the words that his clients were saying to him was a gift of art that was given to him by his Father above. Jerome will be deeply missed by his adoring family and his many friends that he was honored to serve over the years. A Memorial Service Honoring the Life of Jerome Garrison was held Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 12:00 o’clock at the home of Mary and Peyton Robinson in Atlanta with Pastor Chip Garrison, nephew, and Mr. Karl Riddett, nephew-in-law, officiating. The family received friends at a reception after the service at the Robinson home. It was Jerome’s request for his cremated remains to be scattered on the beach at St. Simons Island. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Salvation Army Corp. Or, in honor of his beloved rescue dogs Rufus and Fibber, donations can be made to the Society of Humane Friends of Georgia, P.O. Box 1416, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 in memory of Jerome Garrison. A Memorial Service will also be held in Jerome’s hometown of Barnesville, Georgia, on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at Rock Springs Church with Pastor Benny Tate officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the church until the hour of the service. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com. Tom M.
