Jesse Wilkes age 73, of Griffin, Georgia passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at his residence.
Jesse was born in Tifton, Georgia on August 25, 1948. He is preceded in death by his parents; Jesse Wilkes Sr. and Vera Browning Wilkes; and sister, Patsy Wilkes Couch. Mr. Wilkes proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He also pastored for over 30 years in the Griffin, Spalding and Lamar areas.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Blanche Wilkes; children, Sebrenia Wilkes Sharpe (Rev. Anthony), Tim Wilkes (Shelley), Nathan Wilkes (Andrea), and Randall Wilkes; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren plus one more due in October. Special thank you to Ms. Martha (home-health nurse), for taking such good care of Mr. Wilkes.
Visitation for Mr. Wilkes will be Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A service will be Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the chapel. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
