Barnesville native Jimmy Hammett died Thursday. Hammett pastored churches in Pike County and was a historian who chronicled the life of Ches McCartney, also known as the Goatman. A memorial service will be held Dec. 18 at First United Methodist Church in Barnesville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the James Hammett Benefit Fund in care of FNB Griffin, P.O. Drawer F, Griffin, Ga. 30224. More to follow….
