Joan Mack Mitchell

Joan Mack Mitchell died Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Services were held Wednesday, June 18, at Henderson Temple True Church of God in Christ in Thomaston. Elder Willie Mann officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Joan Mack Mitchell was born Sept. 19,1939 to the late Joe Mack Sr., and the late Adelphia Grace Mack. She joined East Mount Sinai Baptist Church. Mitchell then joined Shaw Temple True Church of God in Christ. She was married to the late David Mitchell who preceded her in death; one sister, Juanita Sullivan; and one brother, Joe Mack Jr. Survivors include one son: Gregory Battle (Rose Akins) of Barnesville; sisters, Sylvia (Clarence) Lindsey Sr. of Atlanta and Mary Jo (Daniel) Hardaway; brothers, Clarence Mack (Martha) of Barnesville and Melvin (Jergen) Mack of Atlanta; sisters-in-law: Mrs. Dorothy L. Mack of Thomaston and Evelyn Henderson of College Park; grandchildren, Latarsha (Roberto) Allen of Barnesville, Domineake Harden, Christopher Fluellyn of Barnesville, Nadia Battle of Queens, N.Y., and Corry Battle of New Jersey; nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas Harden, Raven Allen, Tantrevia Allen, Mercedes Allen, Dominique Dumas, Shamar Tyus, Kenyon Holloway and Malik Davis, all of Barnesville, and CJ Battle of New Jersey; devoted friends, Ruby Andrews, Lillie Mae Stafford, Ernestine Barrett, Ruby Wilkerson, Mother Brown and Mother Reid and other relatives and friends. Bentley and Sons Funeral Home of Barnesville had charge of arrangements.
